aquaculture development
diving into aquaculture technologies
Vasch has many years of experience in aquaculture development and engineering.
Not only via aquaponics (see aquaponics page and our aquaponics website) but also via dedicated aquaculture projects, both as developer and as fish farmer.
One of our key strengths is our background in industrial development and automation. This gives us a unique perspective when it comes to developing aquaculture systems. Unlike most fish farm developers, who typically come from agricultural or scientific backgrounds, we bring valuable experience in modern industrial processes and innovation.
Modern fish farms should prioritize sustainability, low energy consumption, and the reuse of raw materials and water. These three pillars—ecological design, advanced engineering with a focus on energy efficiency, and waste stream recycling—are at the core of our expertise.

Vasch is specialised in:
- Engineering of aquaculture farms
Including design of plants, automation, calculation of TAN, tubing, pump systems, etc - Sustainable development:
looking for solutions for low environmental impact, such as fish feeding, waste water treatment and re-use, denitrification systems,
Aquaculture development and engineering without having field experience is difficult.
We have many years of expertise, including:
- 6 years of running our own trout-farm in Bonlez (Belgium): self-sustaining farm for rainbow trout
- Engineering & development of 200 ton fish farm Omegabaars (Aqua4c), the most sustainable fish farm in the world
- 6 years experience in project and operations management at Omegabaars (Aqua4c)
- strong connections and relationships with aquaculture scientific reasearch centers, such as Aqua-Erf (Odisee school), KU Leuven, etc.
- more that 15 years experience in the development of sustainable aquaponics installations.
